This is a fantastic opportunity for a new or experienced leader to join a highly successful and ambitious maths team.

Lymm High School is a well-established, 11-18 comprehensive school with over 1950 students (400 in the 6th form) and exceptional resources, including 28 acres of beautiful grounds, a swimming pool, leisure complex and our own residential centre in Anglesey. We have a strong track record of high performance, with a Progress 8 score of +0.71 last year and equally strong results at KS5. It is also a lovely place in which to work; in addition to good fortune with our physical surroundings, staff are exceptionally positive, committed and supportive of one another.

The Maths faculty is one of the strongest in the school and includes many talented and dedicated teachers. Results have been consistently excellent; for example, the Maths Progress 8 score last year was 0.7, with 89% students achieving a grade of 4 or above and 42% achieving grade 7 or above. Maths is a very popular subject at KS5, with four classes in each of Y12 and Y13, as well as Further Maths classes every year.

However, we still believe we can be better and we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed leader to work closely with the Head of Maths to further develop the faculty. We are interested in your leadership skills and potential as much as the number of years you have been teaching. The specific leadership responsibilities will be decided upon appointment, taking into account the successful candidate's particular interests and experience.

If, prior to submitting an application, you would like to see for yourself why we believe this is such a fabulous school in which to work and why the post itself is so exciting, then do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a phone call or a visit. Contact recruitment@lymmhigh.org.uk with any queries.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this legal requirement.

The successful applicant's appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Closing date for application: 9am Monday 3rd  March

Interview Date: TBC

Headteacher

Mr Gwyn Williams

Values and vision

Lymm High School aims for its students to: be successful and achieve their full potential; enjoy learning and become independent lifelong learners; become socially responsible citizens and members of the community; and become confident and capable individuals.

In order to achieve these aims, the school has three simple, underlying priorities for action: an uncompromising focus on high academic standards and excellent teaching and learning; encouraging participation in a wide-ranging programme of extra-curricular activities and opportunities to develop leadership skill; and promoting the importance of being decent, socially responsible members of the community

Ofsted report (February 2018)

“Pupils feel safe and secure in a school that is characterised by harmonious relationships. There are strong relationships between adults and pupils alike. Teachers have high hopes for pupils and expect the very best from them. This is a school where everyone is accepted for their individuality and uniqueness. It is a school that aims to ensure that inclusivity and scholastic ambition intertwine seamlessly.

Pupils are extremely positive about their learning experiences…. (they) also benefit from an extensive extra-curricular programme and strong spiritual, moral, social and cultural development (and) recognise that their teachers and other adults go ‘the extra mile’ for each of them. For these reasons, pupils reciprocate the care, guidance and support that they receive with extremely high standards of behaviour. They are an absolute credit to the school.”
