This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team in a successful International School. We are seeking a resourceful and committed individual with the appropriate attitude, skills and experience to join the Senior Leadership team of the Primary School.
The Assistant Head reports to the Head of Primary. The successful candidate will have a record of leading successful whole school change and have significant experience in student welfare and curriculum design in the Primary School. A secure understanding and experience in the management and analysis of pupil data, tracking and assessment to support pupil progress and attainment is a vital part of the role.
Most importantly the new Assistant Head must demonstrate the capacity to create a vision for the education and care of the students of GIS that is creative, fosters innovation and incorporates the most forward thinking in education that focuses upon the learner. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator, confident in establishing open communication with students, staff and parents. It is expected that the Assistant Head will actively support and articulate the values and character building principles of GIS.
Experience of enquiry-based learning and/or thematic cross curricular learning along with a working knowledge of using Google Apps for Education as a learning platform and provision of a 1:1 iPad programme would be an advantage.
The Assistant Head of Primary is required for August 2016.

GIS Professional Development
At GIS we aim to constantly develop each child’s full potential and to achieve this we continually develop our teachers to be the best that they can be.
Numerous studies have shown that the success of any school is directly linked to the quality of their teachers. We are proud of our exceptional teaching cohort and the professional learning opportunities available at GIS. In 2015 we increased the internal professional learning opportunities with the introduction of the Professional Learning Afternoons. This initiative provides 2 hours per week of dedicated professional learning time to all academic staff; which more than doubled the existing internal dedicated time to professional learning.

The professional development program we have at GIS has moved from strength to strength and has focused all teachers on being critically reflective on the practise of themselves and others built around a set of individualised professional goals. These help teachers to view themselves as learners and to value reflection and feedback as a powerful driver of learning.
During this time, teachers are able to critically reflect, collaborate, visit other schools, lead and participate in professional communities, further their studies by undertaking Masters and PhDs, etc.
