What We’re Looking For

The Role of the Assistant Head (Pastoral)

As the Assistant Head (Pastoral), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and personal development of every student. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and enhancing the school’s pastoral care programs to support student well-being and personal growth.
  • Promoting positive behaviour management strategies and safeguarding practices.
  • Overseeing student attendance, punctuality, and welfare, ensuring that every child feels safe and supported.
  • Building strong relationships with students, staff, and parents to foster a positive school culture.
  • Supporting and mentoring staff to ensure high standards of pastoral care across the school.
  • Implementing initiatives that promote mental health, inclusion, and character development.
  • Covering in class if needed, in times of staff absences.
  • Assisting the ELT with additional pastoral-related duties as required.
  • Promoting and developing a positive behaviour curriculum
  • Supporting and managing bus operations alongside the Vice Principal 
  • Monitoring and developing the schoolhouse system, house events and activities
  • Organising the assemblies’ program, theme days, and events
  • Overseeing school uniform expectations

We are seeking a leader who can demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of impactful leadership in pastoral care within a school setting.
  • A deep understanding of safeguarding, student well-being, and behavioural management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and parents.
  • A passion for creating a nurturing, inclusive school environment where every student thrives.
  • The ability to inspire and mentor staff in implementing best practices in pastoral care.
  • A commitment to the ethos and values of Al Rabeeh School, including respect for cultural diversity.


Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered, you must have:

A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, BEd, or equivalent) and at least two years of leadership experience.

Demonstrated experience with UK education standards and frameworks.

The ability to effectively support and lead within a diverse and multicultural school community.
