The Role

We are looking for a passionate and innovative School Leader who will motivate and encourage our staff and boys to realise their full potential. You will demonstrate the skills, expertise and passion to inspire and encourage the teaching staff and strive for excellence in all areas. As Assistant Head you will form a key role in supporting the Headteacher and Deputy Head and ensuring the smooth and successful running of the school. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious teacher and school leader, to develop their career working as part of our senior leadership team to implement and further develop our pastoral care systems with particular focus on pupil welfare and well-being. This crucial role is part of the school’s commitment to ensure that all pupils achieve their potential in a happy, safe and harmonious environment. 

You will be joining a school with a very strong and widely recognised pastoral care system whereby boys, staff and parents feel happy, supported and looked after. The main focus of the role will be to lead the school’s pastoral engagement, provision and policy; promote and safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of the boys; establish a clear ethos, set of values and opportunity for personal enrichment; lead and ensure compliance with the school’s safeguarding policy and procedures and fulfil the role of the school’s designated safeguarding lead.

The Assistant Head – Pupil Welfare and Wellbeing is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and not only leads the pastoral and wellbeing programme throughout the school but has devolved duties to teach his/her subject and to assist in the day to day running of the school. 

An excellent educational understanding of key pastoral issues and organisational abilities, sensitivity, discretion, efficiency and energy are requirements of the position. It is a role that requires excellent communication skills and a high level of commitment and enthusiasm. If successful you will not only work to improve and develop the schools existing provision but also help to shape and implement change.

The duties are extensive and require a full commitment to the welfare, happiness and wellbeing of the school community, as well as compliance with Statutory Regulations.
