Job overview

A new role of ‘Assistant Head Teacher – Behaviour 4 Learning – SA6’ has been created at le Rocquier School for September 2018 or January 2019.

This new post will be crucial in Le Rocquier’s journey over the next few years and will be an exciting opportunity for the right person.  Its focus is to reshape student learning behaviours so the school’s learning community is aspirational, expects more from students, students expect more from staff and students are equipped with resilience in order to thrive in class.  For those who need longer to acquire good study skills, the help will be in place to ensure that no matter what the behavioural barriers are, learning is always available.

This role is about changing culture within the school while ensuring the school’s processes and procedures are robust and that their use is fair and consistent across the school. Vision and leadership are required to re-model the school’s approaches to create wrap-around support structures which promote inclusion, positive learning behaviours and dovetail in with the school’s student welfare and inclusion work.

This is an exciting role and an opportunity to turn your vision into reality in a school open to new ideas and approaches which work for everyone.

Opened in 2006, Le Rocquier School is a successful and flourishing co-educational, non-denominational 11-16 School in the Bailiwick of Jersey with outstanding facilities. The island of Jersey is a crown dependency of the United Kingdom, and situated in the English Channel. There are approximately 800 students on the school roll, along with 60 teaching staff and 50 support staff. Our inclusive school is located in the Saint Clement parish, which is located on the island’s southern coast and has a population of around 10,000.

In 2022 80% of our GCSE subjects added value at GCSE.  Maths, English, Science and many, many others all exceeded expectation (adding value).

In our community we challenge ourselves and each other to be the best we can through our 'Vision in Action' strategies and our rewards system.  We nurture individuality and creativity through inspirational and challenging teaching, high expectations and aspirational goals.  Our school belongs to all of our community through our shared aspiration to develop individuals who are prepared and equipped to contribute to society in a positive and sustainable way, wherever in the world that is.
