Then you will fit in perfectly as Assistant Head Teacher at Hurworth House School in Darlington.

Hurworth House is a specialist day school for boys aged 5 to 19 who have complex learning difficulties including SEMH and ASD. We aim to deliver the highest level of education tailored to individual needs in a safe, positive and structured environment where every student is encouraged to achieve the best possible academic, social and vocational outcomes. Already rated by Ofsted as ‘Good’, we are working towards achieving ‘Outstanding’ – and you will have a profound impact on both our operational and strategic development in the years ahead.

Having just opened a brand new primary unit, we need a professional who can oversee our continuing expansion and play a key role in developing our educational provision. This will include managing a teaching timetable, delivering inspiring lessons and using your leadership skills to help create a supportive learning environment. Along with a recognised teaching qualification and QTS, you will need a strong background in complex needs provision including SENCO leadership and management experience. You must also have a good knowledge of the national curriculum and a flair for teaching across a wide range of ability groups. The confidence to work effectively alongside the Head Teacher and other members of the senior management team is, of course, essential.
