Are you passionate about the teaching and development of young adults with Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism? Do you believe that each student has the right to an outstanding education in which their preferences, interests and abilities are acknowledged and respected?

Great Oaks College opened in 2018 for young adults aged 19-25 with special educational needs and is now in the third year of its expansion phase, with the expectation of being at full capacity from September 2021. Great Oaks College is now seeking to appoint an innovative Assistant Head Teacher to lead and develop our Life Skills Pathway and take on a class responsibility, teaching two days a week.

We are looking for:

A strong, resilient leader who is professional, reliable and committed to improving the education and outcomes for young adults with special educational needs.  You must be an outstanding practitioner with at least three years’ experience of teaching students with SLD/ASD in a special school, college or supported learning environment. You must possess middle leadership or leadership experience gained within special education. The ideal candidate will be someone who is able to adopt and demonstrate the College’s vision, ethos and values, and is organised and able to support their team to develop their practise to an Outstanding level

Great Oaks College is a new specialist independent college new state of the art, purpose built premises located in Gresham Road, Hounslow. We are close to Osterley Tube Station and public transport routes and just fifteen minutes walk from Hounslow bus station. The college provides further educational opportunities to students aged 19-24 that have moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties or autism.

We run three Pathways within Great Oaks College. The Life Skills Pathway is for young people who need to remain in education to develop skills for supported living. The Vocational Pathway supports our students to develop the skills they require to gain employment. The Sensory Pathway supports students that have Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. Within this course, students are supported to develop their communication, ICT and independence skills.
