We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, highly organised and excellent Assistant Head Teacher to join our friendly and supportive Primary Phase, who will drive standards and pedagogy in Teaching and Learning across the Primary Phase and further develop our Cornerstones Curriculum. The successful candidate will be capable of inspiring pupils through their passion for teaching and learning, have outstanding pedagogical knowledge around a knowledge-rich curriculum and teaching and learning, and a desire to make a difference to pupil achievement. Due to Washwood Heath Academy being an All through Academy, there is potential to work with colleagues and pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4 to gain further subject specific development.

Washwood Heath Academy is a relatively new All Through Academy (Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form) in the East of Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a newly developed Primary team and contribute to Primary Phase, which seeks to provide a first class education for all of its learners.  In order for all pupils to achieve academic excellence, we deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum.

To be part of the next stage of the school’s exciting journey, governors would like to appoint a successful Assistant Head Teacher ensuring they can:

·      To work in partnership with the Head of Academy and Head of Primary Phase as part of the Senior Leadership Team, in securing a high quality, knowledge-rich curriculum.

  • Create an environment across the school where children are engaged and enjoying their curriculum.
  • Monitor, moderate and evaluate the curriculum, analysing Primary data. 
  • Mentor and support colleagues through a solid understanding of the curriculum and good pedagogical practices.
  • Contribute towards the vision for the school and its development plan as part of the SLT as a key stage leader.

·     To contribute to raising standards of achievement and maximising student attainment.

·     To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth

  • To be committed to the safeguarding of children.

I am delighted to welcome you to Washwood Heath Academy - a thriving All-through school in the heart of the local community. Washwood Heath Academy offers a rich, stimulating and rewarding learning environment for pupils aged 4 - 18.

Washwood Heath Academy is an oversubscribed All-through school, educating children from EYFS to Sixth Form. Our new purpose built primary school facility was opened in March 2019 and provides a fantastic teaching and learning environment for our younger pupils.  Visitors to the school are always impressed by the high standards in lessons and around the Academy and how welcoming and polite our young people are.

At key stage 4 (Years 9 to 11), the school offers an academic GCSE English Baccalaureate core for an increasing number of pupils and a broad choice of option subjects. We encourage our learners to continue their education beyond Year 11 and we offer a high quality and personalised curriculum in our Sixth Form.
