The Westgate School is a vibrant, caring and highly successful mixed comprehensive school. Children are the heart of all we do. We have a real passion for teaching and learning which is reflected in our outcomes. We are committed to supporting all our school community to thrive whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. We are seeking to appoint, for January 2018, an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join our highly committed and innovative Senior Leadership team.
The successful person will be ambitious, well qualified, an outstanding classroom teacher and possess strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record in leading a whole school initiative or project. The specific responsibilities will be negotiated with the successful candidate but will involve leadership of a key area of the school in line with the school’s development plan.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and aspiring leader, who shares our ethos and vision, to play a key role in the leadership of the school. The successful applicant will have a genuine passion for learning and for ensuring that the students are at the heart of every decision. We welcome applications from both strong middle leaders, who are ready to progress to the next stage of their career, as well as those who already have senior leadership experience.
The Westgate School has been judged Outstanding by Ofsted in our last two inspections and our latest results were extremely pleasing at both KS4 and KS5. We serve an ethnically diverse community and are committed to providing an outstanding, all round education to students from 11-18. We have a vibrant, inclusive sixth form and an exciting KS3 curriculum, which develops key skills in our students and helps them to become more independent learners who are equipped for life.
This is a very exciting time to join us in our next adventure of expansion. Currently we have approximately 1100 students on roll, however, we are very over-subscribed and are undertaking a large building project to enable us to increase our capacity. From September 2018 we will be accepting 240 students into Year 7 and this will see the school grow to approximately 1400 students over the next few years.
The school is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and all candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
