Have you ever dreamed of an educational blank canvas?
Bohunt School Wokingham (BSW) is looking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative individual with an excellent track record and experience of leading successful whole school priorities; to help shape and ensure the success of our new-build secondary school. The school opened in September 2016 with Year 7, and will grow to a roll of 1200 students, aged 11-16, by September 2020, with a sixth form now confirmed to open in 2023.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and ambitious team, keen to see the school embed and extend the excellent foundations laid since we opened in 2016. We are seeking to appoint a leader with a clear and exciting vision for teaching at the school underpinned by creative, innovative and exciting pedagogical approaches, including the development of digital learning that will make learning great in every classroom, every day. We are seeking an individual with energy, charisma and a commitment to the values of the school. They must possess the capacity and credibility to drive forwards the ambition, ethos and vision of the school, with a commitment to their own and others professional development. Applicants should have a proven track record of substantial impact as a leader to raising standards. The reputation of the school is growing dramatically as we establish ourselves and our ambitions for education. Since our second year of opening, the school has been heavily oversubscribed and is seen in the local community as a vibrant and exciting place to be, underpinned by high standards and a core ethos of Enjoy, Respect and Achieve. As a new and growing school, this is a rare and exciting opportunity for a skilful leader to be a game changer and shape the final phase expansion of the school. A desire and commitment be a key player in the development of a hugely ambitious brand new school is essential. Potential is just as important as experience.
You will need to demonstrate a commitment to and evidence of success in sustaining academic excellence, and development of the wider aspects of school life; that enable every child to succeed. Applicants should be excellent classroom practitioners in their own right; as well as being able to; work as part of a team, roll up your sleeves and inspire other staff to excel.

Bohunt School Wokingham opened its doors to Year 7 pupils in 2016. Having grown substantially since then, we are now heavily oversubscribed, with a school roll of 1200 students aged 11-16. With the exciting announcement of our expansion to include a sixth form and additional spaces in all year groups, we will soon see more students through to 18.
Our ethos of ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’ underpins our vision to give all students an outstanding education and develop skills in the classroom and beyond. These core values help our students flourish throughout their school career, and on into later life. Reflective of the success achieved in its first three years, Ofsted recognised that the “overall educational experience for many pupils at the school is ‘life-changing’.”
Our new site has been designed and built with education at the forefront and includes specialist teaching spaces and a whole school one to one iPad provision, as well a wide range of sports and extra-curricular provision. We are leaders in outdoor education with an outdoor classroom, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and Big Expeditions to wilderness locations, alongside a variety of other trips at home and abroad.
We are part of the supportive and innovative Bohunt Education Trust, a MAT with eight schools including two Sixth Forms and a boarding facility. We may be separated geographically, however, all BET schools are student centred, sharing an uncompromising belief in high achievement and unconditional positive expectations, a real sense of community and a dynamic, innovative approach to education.
Candidates are welcome to visit the school to discuss any roles and gain a sense of our educational ethos and culture.
