We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Headteacher as from April 2023 or sooner. The successful candidate will work closely the Senior Leadership Team to support moving the school forward, demonstrating high sense of commitment, a clear vision and inspirational leadership to ensure the very best outcomes for every young person.

The successful candidate will have expertise in the leading on all aspects learning and teaching of pupils with complex, severe and moderate learning difficulties. In addition, the successful candidate will have substantial experience working at a middle or senior leadership level and of proven successful curriculum development.

The above position offers an exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunity to be part of Central England Academy Trust. Our Secondary School is part of a thriving three school Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). Oak Wood Secondary School shares the same site with our sister school Oak Wood Primary School. Both schools are oversubscribed generic special schools, meeting the educational needs of young people aged 3 to 19 and are independent of each other but work very closely towards ensuring that resources are fully utilised for maximum impact. In addition, Oak Wood Secondary School manages the educational provision at Jade Unit for young people with significant SEMH needs at Brooklands NHS Hospital in Solihull. Also, part of the Trust is Higham Lane School which is a high-performing 11-18 Comprehensive School also located in Nuneaton. There is great scope for collaborative work across the MAT.

In addition to completing an application form, candidates are asked to submit a letter of application of no more than two sides of A4. The letter should include:

1      A paragraph clearly stating your vision in relation to school priorities and the significant areas of the role as set out in the ‘Main Purpose and Key Responsibilities of Job’ bullet points

2      An outline of your skills and knowledge in relation to the areas outlined in the person specification and the impact you have made in relation to raising standards in your current setting.

The deadline for application submission is 12 noon Monday 5th December 2022. Those staff who are shortlisted will be interviewed on Tuesday 13th December and will be expected to provide a 5 - 10 minute conversational presentation outlining your vision as an aspirational leader. There is no expectation on how you present your conversation. The title of the conversational presentation is 'An inspirational KS3 leader ensures the curriculum is at the heart of smooth transition from Key Stage 2 to 3’
