Job overview

Assistant Headteacher – Creative Partnerships and Community Cohesion

L13-17

Falinge Park High School, Rochdale

Opening Doors; Unlocking Potential

Start date – September 2019

Falinge Park High School is a large, multicultural, inclusive comprehensive in Rochdale. There is a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the school and our pupils are well behaved and keen to learn. There is a positive ethos amongst the staff and we are creating a culture which supports each other at every level rather than a tick-box approach to success.

Our objective is to create a compelling learning experience for everybody. We believe the way to do this is by believing in people and building positive relationships.

We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher who can join our team and help to strengthen our creative partnerships and work alongside voluntary and parent groups so that we provide an opportunity for children to thrive and to succeed. It can be tough in education at times but we feel that by reaching out we can do more for the children in our school and support them into becoming active citizens who are proud of their identities and are confident in shaping the future – whatever that may be.

For more information read the Head’s letter which gives more detail to the role, visit our website or contact Lisa Fitton, Head’s PA to arrange a visit on fittonl@falingepark.com

Completed applications should be returned by email to recruitment@falingepark.com by 12 noon on Thursday 2nd May. Interviews will take place on Friday 17th May and Monday 20th May.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will undergo an enhanced DBS check, checks of references and employment history.

The school is an 11-16 community comprehensive High School in the Falinge area of Rochdale.  It is mixed gender with approximately 1160 pupils on roll. We have a diverse intake and students embrace the many different cultures within the area.  This is reflected within the latest OFSTED report.

Students here make good progress because they receive good teaching. The school is third in local league tables for Value Added. In 2012 we were third in local league tables for Maintained Schools in 5+ A*-C including English and Mathematics. Results are particularly impressive in the core subjects of English and Mathematics. Key appointments at both Senior and Middle Management levels together with new Main Scale teachers are driving forward the school improvement agenda.

We are looking forward to having new facilities but strongly believe that a school’s ethos comes from the values of the students and staff.   OFSTED judged school as outstanding in a number of areas including Behaviour, Care, Guidance and Support and Social Cohesion.

We are very proud of all students and staff. We are committed to unlocking potential in both groups. We are all learners and aspire to live up to our motto “Pride in Excellence”.  We seek to employ staff who are self-critical and committed to making no excuses for student under performance. We have a ‘can do’ culture.  A good education is the one thing students’ gain which helps them to unlock their dreams, raises aspirations and leads to a happy and productive life in society.
