Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a valued team and enjoy an exceptional future on a beautiful island.

About Le Rondin

Le Rondin is a Primary Special School for pupils aged 3-11 years who have a wide range of special educational needs. The school is organised in three Departments: Early Years (from Nursery to Year 2); Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4); and Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6).

At Le Rondin we aim to provide a bespoke curriculum tuned to the needs of individual pupils.  Le Rondin is co-located with the Forest Primary School, the two schools work closely together and share some facilities.

About you

We are looking for a committed and excellent classroom practitioner who has leadership experience gained within a primary and/or special education setting for this senior post within our SLT. As our Assistant Headteacher, you will teach across the full age range of the school (covering PPA, approximately 50% teaching commitment) and should have experience of, and commitment to, the teaching and learning strategies necessary for successful differentiated, mixed ability teaching.

As an ambitious, experienced leader with high expectations, and outstanding classroom teaching skills, you will be able to lead by example and raise standards of achievement for all - making a significant difference to the lives of the children.

You should possess a positive attitude, together with personal qualities of initiative, patience, tact, discretion and integrity. Furthermore, it is essential that you have a sympathetic understanding for the varying needs of the pupils across the school and can remain calm under pressure.

Benefits

Guernsey is a remarkable place in which to be an Assistant Headteacher. You will benefit not just from our refreshingly different and forward-thinking approach to education, but also the stunning scenery and enviable quality of life.

This post carries an eight year housing licence and if appointed, you can expect to:

  • Work in a well-resourced school that follows an innovative Bailiwick curriculum based on the English National Curriculum and which has favourable PTRs;
  • Be part of a leading development of ICT in education and be allocated a personal laptop;
  • Receive a generous relocation package to the island, including rent allowance;
  • Enjoy the benefits of more generous tax allowances on an island with no VAT.
