The Role:

Paxman Academy is looking for an exceptional Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion to join us at Easter.

Paxman Academy opened to Year 7 students in September 2019 and is a co-educational, fully comprehensive 11-16 Academy with a PAN of 180. It is a heavily oversubscribed school which is held in high regard in the community.

 

Visits to the Academy are welcomed.

 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

 

●       Supporting the Head of School in providing whole Academy leadership and ensuring a whole Academy approach to school improvement

●       To line manage the SENCO of Paxman Academy

●       To quality assure the provision for special educational needs within the Academy

●       To appropriately manage the deployment of resources for Special Needs and Learning

Support and ensure that they are used efficiently and effectively to support students’ progress and inclusion.

●       To develop curriculum resources to ensure that pupils identified on the SEND Register have the required levels of support.

●       To implement and maintain an inclusive learning environment, using assessment data and provision tracking tools to address barriers to learning in a timely and effective manner.

●       Work with pastoral leaders to ensure interventions are tailored to the students’ needs.

 

We're looking for you if you have:

●       Leadership experience, including managing staff and students

●       Demonstrable experience of high quality teaching and learning

●       Demonstrable experience of improving student outcomes

●       Demonstrable experience of effective performance management and quality improvement within a school environment

●       Demonstrable experience in the use of data to ensure the timely identification of students with SEN, to enable assessment of their needs to be able to plan and deliver appropriate interventions to support their learning

●       Knowledge of the National Curriculum and OFSTED Framework regarding effective leadership, management and self-evaluation

●       Knowledge and understanding of strategies to raise standards and achievement of students

●       Experience in supporting the provision of special educational needs learning support

●       A thorough understanding of the intervention packages available to support accelerated learning

●       You do not need to have the SENDCO qualification to fulfil this role.

Paxman Academy is a newly built, co-educational, fully comprehensive 11-16 academy, which opened its doors in September 2019. In its first two years of opening, the Academy has been a popular choice and is heavily oversubscribed.

The Academy enjoys state of the art buildings, including:

• Seven science laboratories that have been equipped to the highest standard

• Excellent technology facilities, including two well-equipped workshops

• Computer suites, equipped with the most up-to-date hardware

• A large auditorium to enable high quality performances to take place

• A dance studio with a sprung floor

• A music suite, including three practice rooms and a control room for the auditorium

• An artificial 3G pitch

• The latest classroom technology to enhance students’ learning experiences
