Job overview

St. Ninian’s High School is a highly successful, 11 to 18, mixed, comprehensive school located in Douglas on the Isle of Man with over 1200 students on roll.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative and highly strategic Assistant Head Teacher to join our dynamic and committed Senior Leadership Team for September 2020. The role would suit an existing senior leader seeking a new challenge or an experienced middle leader looking to make the step up into senior leadership. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for overseeing Student Progress in the school and will also take on a significant role in leading on Safeguarding at our upper school site.

This is an extremely exciting time to join our team as the school has gone from strength to strength over recent years and it is anticipated the successful candidate will play a significant role in our continued journey of school improvement over the next five years.

Working in schools on the Isle of Man has many benefits as they are not subject to OFSTED inspections, but instead are active participants in a Self Review & Evaluation system. Preferential tax rates mean teachers who relocate to the island also benefit financially too. The island is also a uniquely beautiful environment to live and work with it recently gaining the status of a UNESO Biosphere.

About St Ninian's High School

St. Ninian’s High School is recognised as a very good school already, but we continue to strive to improve the education provided for our students.
Learning is at the core of School’s ethos and our students are provided with the opportunity to be able to concentrate on their studies, to seek and receive help, to broaden their knowledge and to develop the skills which they will need later in life.
Students have extensive use of our excellent resources and facilities. We are also fortunate to have very high quality teaching and support staff. At the same time our students are encouraged to do their best in a pleasant and supportive atmosphere where, hopefully, they will gain the confidence and self-esteem necessary to enable them to succeed.
