Highbury Fields School is a truly special place in which to learn, teach and lead. An 11 to 19 girls’ school, we serve a culturally rich, but often underprivileged, community and are fiercely determined that every child in our care will become a confident young woman, who is socially and academically accomplished.
The school’s 2016 ‘outstanding’ OFSTED report and current progress 8 score of 0.76 have established our students’ reputation for academic excellence and we are highly regarded in the local community for our calm, focused learning environment.
However, we are neither complacent nor satisfied. The school strives to be excellent in all aspects of its work but there are vital areas of our provision that are yet to meet our exacting standards. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and committed Assistant Headteacher to have a transformational effect on children’s lives.
The successful candidate will be an analytical and highly visible senior leader who has the ability to have an immediate impact on improving standards by developing and challenging the traditional practice of the school. They will have:
• A flexible and strategic approach to school leadership, with the ability to put ideas into practice and see them through to great effect
• A precise understanding of effective learning, teaching and assessment and the skills to lead, monitor and evaluate the improvement of learning and teaching across the school
• A track record of substantial and highly effective curriculum leadership, including leading and sustaining change in key areas of the curriculum
• An acute sense of the importance of effective communication in uniting and leading all stakeholders
The specific responsibilities attached to the role will reflect the skills and experiences of the person appointed and so applications are welcomed from successful middle and senior leaders with varied remits. The successful candidate should anticipate a wide-ranging brief that will provide the opportunity to contribute to all areas of the school.
The position will be excellent preparation for headship and, given its significance, the attached person specification is drawn from the National Standards of Excellence for Headteachers.
School tours are warmly welcomed and encouraged. If you would like to find out more about us, or visit us prior to submitting an application, please contact Mary Mason on 020 7288 1888.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 25th April 2019.
Interviews will be held on Monday 29th April 2019.
To apply, please download the application form from the TES or school website and email it to: firstname.lastname@example.org Please note the school does not accept CVs.
