Job overview

Le Rocquier School is seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher for April or September 2023.

Le Rocquier is a fully inclusive secondary school of 800 students, which serves the east of Jersey. Working in our school community offers immense job satisfaction and reward while being part of our large team of staff.

The expansion of our Senior Leadership Team has created this exciting and rare opportunity to join a school focused on Teaching, Learning and Inclusion. Our exam results in 2022 were very good and delivered excellent value added.

You will join in the creation of a new curriculum leadership team focused on supporting middle leaders in our journey to keep standards high and ensure teaching and learning continues to deliver excellent value added. You will help shape our whole school strategies and influence the next chapter of our journey whilst having autonomy in several operational areas. We will offer amazing students, a great environment to work, a team of dedicated and sociable staff and the support you need as you perhaps undertake your first steps in senior leadership.

Attached are two job descriptions with slightly different focuses. In application, please use your supporting statement to focus on articulating how you meet or exceed the Person Specification which is the same in both. If called for interview, which JD you might be interested in can be discussed.

This is a permanent position. We would encourage anyone interested to email the Head Teacher (a.adkin@lrs.sch.je) to arrange an informal tour or Teams call if off-island, to discuss this fantastic opportunity and if applicable, the relocation packages available.

Salary £55,940 to £74,340 (including SA6 Leadership Allowance) and a full relocation package is available.

Interviews will take place week beginning 23rd February 2023. Candidates offered an interview and not on Island, will be flown from the UK for interview in school here on Jersey.

Opened in 2006, Le Rocquier School is a successful and flourishing co-educational, non-denominational 11-16 School in the Bailiwick of Jersey with outstanding facilities. The island of Jersey is a crown dependency of the United Kingdom, and situated in the English Channel. There are approximately 800 students on the school roll, along with 60 teaching staff and 50 support staff. Our inclusive school is located in the Saint Clement parish, which is located on the island’s southern coast and has a population of around 10,000.

In 2022 80% of our GCSE subjects added value at GCSE.  Maths, English, Science and many, many others all exceeded expectation (adding value).
