Job overview

The Governors wish to appoint an Assistant Headteacher to lead on Learning and Teaching Development and Professional Learning. The Governors are looking for someone who will be able to develop these areas to the highest level whilst also being able to support the holistic development of the school. The Governors require a teacher who can lead by example and therefore needs to be a highly effective and reflective practitioner.

The Job Purpose of the role is as follows

•Strategic leaderships of TEEP (Teacher Effectiveness Enhancement Project) training across the school and learning and teaching developments.

•To strategically lead on the development of learning and teaching in the school to ensure that all staff are supported to ensure that all learners can make at least good progress in every lesson.

•To lead on professional learning to ensure that the workforce in the school is well equipped for the challenges of learning and teaching and leadership.

•To lead on the implementation of More Able and Talented learners’ provision and standards across the school.

•To lead the school’s provision for Initial Teacher Education (initial Teacher Education) working collaboratively with other schools in the CaBanHub.

•Induction arrangements –Teaching and Non Teaching staff.

•Strategic use of Blue Sky to support school improvement priorities and oversight of Performance Management.

•To support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership team in the effective day to day leadership and management of the school.

Ysgol Emrys Ap Iwan is a co-educational foundation comprehensive school based in Conwy County Borough for students aged 11-18. 

The school’s origins go back to the establishment of Abergele Grammar School in 1899. In recent years, multi-million-pound building programmes have been carried out, and the facilities available at the school have been enhanced considerably. The school’s facilities include a science block, a sports complex, a swimming pool, a floodlit synthetic pitch, tennis courts, a theatre complex, a learning resource centre, TV production studios, hair and beauty training salons, a modern restaurant, and, 15 recently-developed classrooms in a newly built block.
