Prendergast Vale School opened in 2011 as an all-through school for 3 to 16 year olds in the heart of Lewisham. It has 842 students on roll and is part of the Leathersellers' Federation of Schools which educates 2600 children in South East London.  

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Headteacher from September 2017 or earlier, who has a track record of outstanding classroom practice and the ability to lead improvement in academic standards and student outcomes. As a member of SLT, the Assistant Headteacher will play an important role in the overall leadership and management of the school. In particular, you will work closely alongside the Headteacher to lead and develop assessment, reporting and data analysis in the secondary phase.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the assessment of the school’s performance and reporting data, and the development of the school’s timetable.   You will have:  

• a proven track record of leading and managing a team to raise attainment and examination results at Key Stage 4  

• a track record of outstanding teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4 

• a successful track record of using data to track and intervene to ensure that students make the best possible progress  

• experience of using timetable management systems 

• significant relevant experience of contributing to whole school issues 

• proven ability and enthusiasm to motivate students and staff 

• the ability to raise expectations and aspirations of students of all abilities 

• an understanding of effective strategies for urban schools.
