We are a welcoming, vibrant primary school for children with special educational needs. We are looking to appoint an ambitious and inspirational leader who is a talented SEN practitioner, to the post of Assistant Headteacher. We are seeking an individual who is able to lead, inspire, encourage and empower. Someone who is looking to use their energy and vision to make a real impact, contributing to and driving our school improvement journey.

This role would suit an existing Assistant Headteacher or leader who has a proven record as a highly effective teacher. You will have held positions of responsibility that have made a noticeable difference within your current school and must be able to offer the knowledge, skills and understanding to co-develop teaching and learning and implement a truly outstanding and aspirational curriculum to all the children attending Danecourt School.

Information about Danecourt School:

Danecourt is a school for children aged 4-11 years with severe and complex needs. All the children attending Danecourt have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The vast majority of the children attending the school have a diagnosis of autism, with many having additional diagnosis such as sensory processing disorder.

The school prides itself on creating personalised learning opportunities with a vision for each individual pupil reaching their full potential by the time they leave in year 6. The school offers a curriculum split into three tracks that are tailored to meeting the pupil’s needs. The school offers small class sizes with favourable staffing levels.

Currently there are 234 children on roll who are based across three sites in Medway. The largest of the sites is in Gillingham and there are two satellite sites based at Featherby Primary School and Bligh Primary School.

Danecourt was judged to be good in all areas, except Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare and EYFS both of which were judged as being outstanding by Ofsted in June 2019.

Danecourt is part of the Maritime Academy Trust which has schools across Greenwich, Bexley, Kent and Medway.

Staff work collaboratively with families/carers and a range of other agencies in order to meet the pupils' needs and as a result, pupils make strong progress academically, emotionally and socially.
