Job overview

We are seeking an exceptional leader to play an integral role in helping us realise our vision of becoming a sustainably outstanding school in accordance with our core values of Everyone Learning and Everyone Caring.

You will join us at a truly exciting stage in the school’s development. Since receiving a second consecutive ‘good’ judgement from Ofsted in June 2016, the school has embarked firmly on the next phase of its development under the leadership of a new headteacher since January 2017 and with the aid of valued support and challenge from our partners in the River Learning Trust. Tangible improvements to culture and ethos have already been achieved and the school is full of positivity and ambition to excel.

The forward-thinking, dynamic and supportive SLT are always seeking to develop their individual and team effectiveness in service of the school’s improvement. They are therefore willing to reshuffle their current roles in order to optimise the fit around the new Assistant Headteacher who will be selected on the calibre of their all-round leadership rather than their fit to a pre-ordained role. Equally, it is expected that the successful candidate will possess the confidence and capacity to take on a range of senior roles in the future as part of their ongoing leadership development.

Situated five miles east of Oxford on a unique and historic parkland site, Wheatley Park School is a mixed 11 - 18 academy and proud member of the River Learning Trust since 2016. Our truly comprehensive intake is a mixture of both rural and urban with strong ethnic diversity. Our staff work exceptionally well together, providing a collaborative and supportive professional ethos. Professional learning has a very high profile and we have close involvement with various ITT programmes. As a Google Reference School, we are also proud to develop cutting-edge practice in the use of IT in the classroom. All students have access to their own personal chromebook in order to support their learning.

If you would like to speak to the headteacher or arrange a visit, please contact Mrs Pat Mason (HR Manager) on 01865 877634 or by email to pmason@wheatleypark.org. For information about the River Learning Trust, please visit www.riverlearningtrust.org. Full details and an application form can be found on our website: Vacancies. Please send completed applications to pmason@wheatleypark.org.

Closing date: 12 noon, Monday 19th February 2018

Interviews will provisionally be held during the week beginning Monday 5th March 2018

Wheatley Park School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and to preventing extremism. Wheatley Park School expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Wheatley Park School is an equal opportunities employer.
