Job overview
Beaminster School has a rare vacancy for a dynamic and inspirational Assistant Headteacher to join our growing and flourishing community from September 2025.
Our school is a vibrant and inclusive learning environment with motivated and well-behaved pupils, dedicated staff, supportive parents and a committed and experienced Governing Body. Our recent Ofsted inspection recognised that children of all abilities thrive.
With the impending retirement of the current postholder, this is a key leadership role requiring vision, strategy, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student.
Alongside leading on the delivery of our exciting personal development curriculum, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a structure that ensures the needs of the school and its students are met, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally. You will ensure consistency across all aspects of behaviour management, work closely with staff, students, and parents, and inspire the entire school community with your enthusiasm and passion for education. The three key strands to this role are:
- Strategic leadership and operational management of Personal Development, Behaviour and Attitudes.
- Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) of our experienced operational team (full training provided if required).
- Line management of Key Stage 3 and 4 student teams with oversight of whole school student support.
You will have autonomy over your remit while working with, and being supported by, a very experienced team of senior leaders. If you are a highly successful middle or senior leader, who can provide demonstrable evidence of positive impact, over a number of years, and you’re ready to take the next step, we would very much like to hear from you.
We have a joint Sixth Form with our partner school, the Sir John Colfox Academy in Bridport, offering a broad and developing range of courses. Sixth Form numbers are buoyant and our results are some of the best in Dorset.
Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged, and the Headteacher will be happy to meet with you. Please do get in touch if you would like to arrange this.
