Assistant Headteacher – Personal Development, Equality & Diversity

Taverham High School is a popular and successful 11-18 academy on the outskirts of Norwich. Taverham has been voted the 4th most desirable postcode to live and work in the country.  The school was substantially redeveloped under the PFI in 2007 and we became an academy in April 2013; our facilities are first-class.  We pride ourselves on the professional development we offer our staff.

We wish to appoint a senior leader to the above post to join the leadership team from Easter 2020.

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher to this new post in the school responsible for Personal development, equality and diversity.

The role has the potential to be influential across the whole leadership spectrum and working closely with the Headteacher and other senior leaders, the post holder will play a major role in taking strategic decisions to ensure the further development of our school.

Informal visits to the academy and/or discussions with Ms Dallas, Headteacher, are warmly welcome prior to interview.

Values and Vision

Taverham High School believes every student should follow their dreams and have respect for themselves as well as everyone in the school. The academy aims to set every pupil up for life outside of school by providing them with the life-long skills that they need. Students are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities. The aim of this is to make sure they are able to work as a team. The curriculum is one that is enriching and stimulating for all pupils. Teachers show the children that there are several paths to getting ahead in life, from going to university or finding the perfect apprenticeship.

Ofsted report

“Overall standards achieved by pupils remain above average. Achievement is exceptionally high in mathematics, English literature and some sciences. Pupils excel in music, French and business studies. We found that the school’s caring, nurturing ethos and culture of high achievement is based firmly on the excellent relations promoted between pupils and staff. Pupils told us that teachers are approachable, know them well and are always there to offer help and support. They value this highly; praising the sense of community it creates and enabling them to feel totally safe, secure and generally free from bullying in the school.”
