The Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Assistant Headteacher who is immersed in Primary education, pedagogy and policy.  The experienced candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who will be able to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for learning in our Primary Phase to secure strong outcomes for all pupils. You will be joining a committed team of staff and have the opportunity to innovate our Primary Phase of learning.

The position is open to experienced managers or emerging leaders who wish to make significant impact to the learning of our children. This role carries an additional whole school responsibility, leading on Curriculum ages 3-11 and an all-through responsibility. 

The successful candidate:  

  • will be a successful manager or emerging leader who is able to demonstrate outstanding classroom teaching 
  • will have experience of working within the Primary phase and will be able to demonstrate where they have had significant positive impact upon pupil outcomes 
  • will take lead responsibility for ensuring the best possible curriculum offer that is diverse and flexible 
  • will be supportive and contribute to the development of our all-through curriculum

The Assistant Head is a leading professional in the school, who should be able to support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteachers in all aspects of management, control and discipline of the school. Working with the Headteacher and Deputy Heads, the Assistant Head provides vision, leadership and direction for the school and ensures that it is managed and organised to meet its aims and targets. By the very nature of the post, the postholder will share in the responsibility for the continuous improvement in the quality of education: for raising standards efficiently and effectively to achieve the school's aims and objectives. The Assistant Head is responsible for creating a productive, disciplined learning environment and for day-to-day management and will be accountable to the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher.
