The Fernwood School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, 11-16 academy, situated in Wollaton in Nottingham. The school has been recognised by Ofsted and the Department for Education for excellent academic standards and outstanding care and discipline. It achieved Leading Edge status for excellent practice in 2004. There are 1,016 students on the school roll.

The Fernwood School aims to provide an excellent education in a safe, well-disciplined, caring environment. It believes in educating the whole child, and a wealth of opportunities are available for students to extend their learning beyond the classroom. Teachers also believe each child is unique and precious.
The school has very high expectations of all. Hard work, self-discipline, courtesy and respect are all key values. At the heart of the ethos are equality of opportunity, shared understanding, respect and tolerance for each other’s differences and needs.
The Fernwood School became a Specialist Technology College in 2005 and a Specialist School in Mathematics and Science in 2010. It is also a recognised centre of excellence for Languages, Expressive Arts and Sport.
