George Pindar School is looking for an ambitious and highly effective practitioner with the skills and ability to raise achievement for our disadvantaged and vulnerable learners.

This opportunity, which arises as a result of the re-structuring of the Senior Leadership Team, will allow and enable you to make your mark as a Senior Leader and support the further development of a rapidly improving and highly aspirational school.

We are seeking to appoint a person who:

  • has an outstanding track record in educational leadership with proven success and demonstrable impact.
  • is able to think strategically, analytically and creatively with due regard for accountability.

You will be given both autonomy and support as you build on our existing work in raising achievement focused on our disadvantaged and vulnerable learners.

This position will appeal to ambitious and suitably experienced teachers who wish to progress to headship in due course. You will join a supportive and committed Senior Leadership Team and a school which wants the best for its staff and students.

George Pindar School is an 11-16 Community Comprehensive School on the outskirts of the seaside town of Scarborough and on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Prospective candidates are strongly encouraged to visit the school or contact the Headteacher for an informal conversation.

George Pindar School is situated on the south-side of the seaside town of Scarborough, surrounded by the Yorkshire Wolds and Moors.

Curriculum:
We have a curriculum for success, which supports our students on one of three learning pathways.  Each pathway is designed to provide stretch and challenge as well as support where it is needed.  For example, our middle pathway allows students to follow a balanced curriculum of GCSEs with some high value vocational qualifications, but has additional literacy and numeracy support built in.

As a result, our students are enthusiastic,  respond well to staff and are  increasingly successful.

Learning:
Learning is central to all we do and we expect all our students to progress well as a result of effective and engaging teaching.  A key aspect of any Head of Faculty’s role is working with their colleagues to ensure that learning in their area is as good as it can be.

CPD:
We believe it is essential to invest in the development of staff.  While we offer the opportunity to participate in specialist external CPD, we are increasingly focused on sharing best practice within school via our Teaching and Learning Group and our Coaching initiative.  We believe this is the key to ensuring everyone plays a part in the school’s success and development.
