Job overview

Moreton School, part of the Amethyst Trust is delighted to be able to offer the pivotal position of Assistant Headteacher. Coming at an exciting time in the school’s development, this role is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, to have an impact with the students who need us the most. This is a challenging, stimulating post which will help to fulfil the ambitions of anyone who is in the teaching profession to transform lives for the better.

We are a ‘Good’ school, as judged by OFSTED in early 2020. We are a knowledge-rich school with high aspirations for all students and we are committed to supporting our teachers in performing at their best while maintaining a work-life balance and genuine wellbeing.

But, more than this, we are inclusive school which serves a real community, a school with deep ties to our local area and a steadfast commitment to the families that live near us and work with us. Being a fully comprehensive school, we believe it is important to have formulated a strong inclusion vision, a statement of intent which sums up our determination to serve all our children.

Inclusion at Moreton is a graduated approach based around four key values: being pre-emptive, preventative, restorative and redemptive. We are working every day in creating a culture and ethos where we never give up on any child. In this post you will co-ordinate the school’s inclusion provision to ensure that this happens, bringing together a range of services and staff in a strategic way to support our most vulnerable learners. You will be the eyes on the bigger picture of the provision that we offer for our students, and big-picture thinking is crucial to succeeding in this exciting post.

We will support you with an excellent range of facilities and staff to achieve our inclusion vision. Our Eden Centre caters for students with SEMH needs and our Haven is our intervention suite where we work with students have found barriers to overcome to be successful in the classroom. We have an experienced SEND team with a wide range of expertise and a true sense of duty our students.

This is a position that needs someone with a deep sense of moral purpose, a genuine commitment to young people, and a belief in the power of education to change lives. It will offer the ideal step to further Senior Leadership opportunity, which may well be within our highly successful MAT. But, first and foremost, we are looking for a true leader with passion, dedication and integrity who does not see children as a stepping stone to the next job, but as a chance to change the world for the better.
