Assistant Headteacher - Teaching and Learning
Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Headteacher. The post offers an exceptional opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced teacher. The Senior Leadership Team currently consists of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, an Assistant Head and the Head of Sixth Form.
Although each member of the SLT leads in specific areas of school leadership, it is considered axiomatic that many responsibilities are shared and that strategic issues are dealt with on a collaborative basis. Members of the Senior Leadership Team are also expected to take assemblies, support extra-curricular activities and represent the school, as required, in the wider community. Whoever is appointed to the vacancy will therefore be expected to adopt the same holistic approach. Flexibility is an important consideration.
The focus of responsibility for the post will be the strategic development of Teaching and Learning across the whole school as well as all staff development and training. The successful candidate will have the potential and desire to be active and influential across the whole leadership spectrum. As such it will provide a first rate preparation for those considering going on to Deputy Headship.
The teaching subject being offered is not likely to be critical: he or she, however, will be a classroom practitioner of proven ability who enjoys teaching and is ‘at home’ across the full age range. It will also be important that applicants have had substantial leadership experience in a whole school context.
This is a post for a suitably ambitious teacher who is committed to achieving high standards in all areas of school life and can demonstrate the potential to contribute a great deal to the future development of Boston Grammar School. An Assistant Headteacher must, self-evidently, have very good communication skills and the ability to motivate and lead others. An abundance of energy and the ability to think creatively are further and essential requirements.
Candidates are asked to submit by Friday 2 March 2018:
• A completed application form.
• A letter of application.
Applicants should note that this post is subject to enhanced DBS clearance. The school is committed to providing the best possible care and education for its students, and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment.
Further details and an application form are obtainable from Rowan Druce at the above address, by email (email@example.com) or candidates should telephone during school hours on 01205 366444, or download the information pack at www.bostongrammarschool.co.uk.
Interviews for those short-listed are likely to be held in the week beginning 5 March 2018, though the process could be slightly earlier or later.
The interview programme will include giving a presentation. Further information will be supplied prior to interview.
We reserve the right to interview/appoint an exceptional candidate before the closing date of Friday 2 March 2018.
