Job overview
North West London L11-16 (Outer London Allowance)
Northwood School is a highly successful 11-18 school with just over 1,000 students.
This is an incredibly exciting time for the school as we have recently joined the Partnership Learning Trust , which operates a range of schools across North West London and East London. In addition our OFSTED visit in October 2024 confirmed that we continue to be highly effective across all areas of our work.
The school is popular and inclusive with a truly comprehensive intake. Our philosophy places students at the centre of our work, creating a calm and caring environment where they can learn and thrive. Our exceptional outcomes (top 10% in the country at key stage 4) are testament to the success of this approach. This has not happened by accident. It has been achieved through the dedication of talented staff and students, alongside a strong and supportive Trust and Governing Body.
We are now looking for an exceptional candidate to be our next Assistant Headteacher for Teaching and Learning to take us "beyond Outstanding". We are not complacent and want to lead the way in terms of Curriculum pedagogy, research-backed innovation and CPD approaches for all of our staff. You will benefit from working with an enthusiastic and well-qualified team, who are committed to collaboration and people-centred school leadership.
You will have a demonstrable track record as a middle leader with evidence of continued self improvement and learning. Working alongside a very strong team of curriculum leaders and teachers you will have exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence as well as a deep understanding and experience of the many facets that make up excellent learning and progress for students.
You will be ambitious for our students, believe in the power and moral purpose of education and insist on the highest of standards. We are looking for a leader who believes in life long learning for all and is committed to closing inequality gaps in educational outcomes.
The successful candidate will have full support and training to develop into a future Headteacher. Alongside close guidance and mentoring from the Headteacher there will be comprehensive training and development opportunities ,such as NPQH, provided with a range of external providers as well as collaboration opportunities within the Trust, through Hillingdon Learning Partnership and with our other partners.
The school is also committed to creating a sustainable model of school leadership which respects the professionalism of leaders and recognises that a good work life balance is key to continued success. You will be key to developing this model at the school.
If this challenge excites you, please do read the person spec and job description before making an application.
For a confidential discussion about the role with the headteacher or a tour of the school please contact the Heads PA: Kelly Fossett- kfossett@nwschool.org.uk
The closing date for applications is Thursday 30th January 2025 – 12.00 noon.
Interviews are scheduled for week beginning the 3rd of February .
Partnership Learning Trust and Northwood School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Scheme, confirmation of qualifications, experience checks and satisfactory references.
