Job overview

We are delighted to introduce you to The Academy, Selsey – a secondary school where we know every student as an individual and where the combination of quality teaching, pastoral support and extensive facilities provide students with everything they need to reach their potential and become happy, successful, high performing adults.

At The Academy, Selsey, we pride ourselves on ensuring our students are engaged and involved in their own learning so they feel an ownership of their school. Students will achieve their potential in their examinations but, just as importantly, will develop life skills enabling them to be successful adults.

We are very excited to be recruiting for a new Assistant Headteacher to join our school, as the existing postholder has moved to pastures new. Being part of a small Senior Leadership Team offers a great opportunity to work closely with the Headteacher and be at the heart of moving the school forward. We are looking for a strong, well-rounded individual who can drive significant improvements in their areas of responsibility. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, positive, and charismatic leader. This person will be responsible for improving the quality, delivery and impact of teaching and learning across the school. Experience of leadership and positive impact in this area will be desirable.

Amongst other things this individual must;

• Be a robust, resilient, strategic and positive leader, committed to going above and beyond to ensure rapid school improvement. If your glass is ‘half empty’ we are not the school for you.

• Be committed to working with pupils, parents and staff to raise standards

• Have a deep understanding of the secondary curriculum and its impact on the rounded education of students.

• Have the drive and unwavering belief to make a real difference to the lives of pupils in an area of disadvantage

• Be able to challenge, inspire, and motivate others to achieve outstanding practice
