About Moor Park High School and Sixth Form

Situated in the heart of the North West of England, Preston is one of the most networked cities in the country, with excellent motorway and transport links providing easy access to the coastline, Lake District, the Pennines and the larger cultural cities of Manchester and Liverpool.

Moor Park High School and Sixth Form is a small and popular 11-18 Foundation School serving a vibrant and diverse community in the heart of Preston, Lancashire. Set alongside a large and beautiful heritage park, Moor Park prides itself on bringing the very best of its historical grammar school traditions into a modern and dynamic context that inspires excellence in all we do.  We are proud of our school and grateful to work in the heart of this diverse and vibrant community.

The school is at a very exciting time in its development.  The current Headteacher was appointed in January 2017 and in 2018 we were the most improved secondary school in Lancashire, our standards continue to go from strength to strength.  Our most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2021 established that the school is now firmly ‘Good’ and that safety, good behaviour and high expectations permeate every part of school life. The report also notes that; “Teachers enjoy working at the school. They feel valued and supported by senior leaders and governors.”

The professional development of the staff remains a high priority and our excellent provision was praised by Ofsted. We are fully committed to professional learning and we invest in our staff and invest heavily in their professional development.  We promote vibrant professional discourse and we develop careers. We want to create a healthy profession as well as a healthy school.  This commitment to our staff is contained in our Wellbeing Charter which guarantees that the emotional and physical wellbeing of our staff is given top priority.

Our mission statement is simple. We exist so that all students will be able to access higher education and participate in our modern democracy. This starts with high quality teaching.  Our teachers are committed to offering excellence for all students, regardless of their backgrounds and abilities. We believe in exemplary behaviour, that our young people should be positive role models for other students and for their communities. We believe in offering a broad academic curriculum that gives all students access to further education and employment. We offer high quality enrichment activities that prepare our students for the world outside school and help them to enjoy sport, music and the arts. Finally, we have high expectations because every child is known, they all get the opportunity to achieve their best.
