Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher who has vision and energy. This is a new role to add to our Leadership Team.

We are not hiding the fact that we have faced a number of educational challenges, but we are making significant progress as evidenced by our recent Ofsted Monitoring visit, in November, 2019.  Please take a look at the report on our website.

However, we are not just about academic success; we work hard to ensure that we role model the right behaviours and provide opportunities for our students to develop the skills and understanding required to both be personally successful in the future workplace but also have a positive impact on the world.

It’s important to us to appoint the ‘right person’.  If that’s you, we will build the role and responsibilities around your skills.  We are looking for a leader with vision and energy who will play a major role in the school’s development and is passionate about ensuring all staff are motivated to work effectively with pupils to achieve their personal best.

We have the support of United Learning and its cluster of schools in the North West working alongside us and have access to excellent CPD for staff, joint-working across schools and a series of initiatives and opportunities that no standalone school could ever provide on its own.

So, if you are driven, ambitious and aspire to build on our success, please get in touch.
Please see the generic Job Descriptions and Person Specifications which are available on the school web site and TES.

Please apply by completing the downloadable application form from the School’s web-site http://www.harropfold.com/information/employment-opportunities and return by e-mail with your supporting statement, which should be on A4, no longer than 2 sides, (in 11 font) to:  bev.duffy@salford.gov.uk

Closing date for applications: Friday 31st January, 2020 9.00 a.m.

Owing to the substantial upsurge in pupil numbers, the school is expected to be full to capacity along with many other local secondary schools.

Harrop Fold runs a calendared programme of directed time events including Senior Leadership Meetings, Head of Faculty Meetings, regular curriculum meetings and developmental opportunities both on a personal professional and school led basis.

Location

Harrop Fold School is situated in Worsley, Salford, between Walkden and Little Hulton bordering Bolton, Bury and Trafford. The school is well served with easy access to the A6 and A180 (East Lancashire Road) as well as the motorway networks of M6, M56, M61, M62. Within walking distance is a railway station which serves the Wigan, Southport, Bolton and Manchester lines and the new V1 & V2 guided bus-way from Atherton & Tyldesley to Manchester City Centre.

There are a range of local shops and a supermarket close by, and we are within a few miles is Salford Quays with its wide diverse selection of shops, restaurants, cinemas, clubs and amenities.

Values and vision

Our core purpose as a school is to raise achievement for all, delivering a rigorous academic education alongside effective personal, social and moral development. We work hard to ensure Harrop Fold School is a happy place to learn and work and provide equal opportunities for all.

No matter their starting points, we stretch and challenge students to reach their potential through a broad, balanced curriculum and wider enrichment opportunities. We provide clear objectives for learning whilst offering the chance to work independently and with others. We celebrate achievements and provide individualised praise through the Class Charts reward system, sharing this with both pupils and parents/carers.

We value our relationships with parents and carers. We know it is essential to communicate effectively with them and work collaboratively to secure the best possible outcomes for students.

Partnerships are also important to us and we aim to work closely with both the local and wider community. As a school we value our international links and constantly seek ways in which pupil experiences can be broadened to prepare them for life beyond school and the world of work, including through our Student Futures programme.
