Box Hill School is a co-educational community of 425 girls and boys aged 11 to 18, whose educational ideals and practice are designed to get the best out of each student. The school follows the philosophy of Kurt Hahn, founder of Gordonstoun in Scotland: while placing academic work at the heart of a school, Hahn stressed the importance of an all-round education as a preparation for life.   

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Houseparent to start September 2022. The Assistant House Parent is responsible to the House Parent, Deputy Head Pastoral and Assistant Head Pastoral for required aspects of the Boarding House, they are responsible for the welfare of the pupils under their charge, and for assisting with the day-to-day management of the Boarding House that they are assigned to. They are expected to help run the House in accordance with agreed School practice as part of the Houseparent body. The Assistant House Parent could also be a member of teaching staff and will have normal teaching responsibilities (a reduction in teaching load is made due to the House Parent duties).

The aim of the Assistant House Parent is to provide for the safety, wellbeing, protection, good discipline and pastoral wellbeing of all pupils in the House; To also ensure a positive experience for the boarders in the House.
