Assistant Houseparent
(Teaching or Non-teaching )
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Houseparent (teaching or non-teaching) within a Boarding House to provide for the safety, good discipline and pastoral well-being of the children. The role is to assist the Houseparent in managing efficiently the organisation and resources of the house, and the wellbeing and personal growth of all the students. Depending on the house, one or two bedroom staff accommodation is available. The average number of boarders in houses is 20.
Box Hill School is a co-educational community of 425 girls and boys aged 11 to 18, whose educational ideals and practice are designed to get the best out of each student. The school follows the philosophy of Kurt Hahn, founder of the Round Square movement. While placing academic work at the heart of a school, Hahn stressed the importance of an all-round education as a preparation for life.
This role would be for a September 2019 start.
We aim to appoint colleagues who will involve themselves whole-heartedly within our community with a commitment to the wider and boarding life of the school, who see boarding as a way of life, not just a job. There is a requirement to do duties and be a tutor and to work evenings, be on duty at night, and work some weekends.
