The Role

Working under the guidance of an HR Business Partner the successful candidate will help to ensure that managers understand and adhere to College policies, procedures and targets and significantly contribute to the embedding of excellent people management practices across the organisation. You will advise on key operational issues such as Disciplinary/Grievance, Sickness/Absence, Capability and Conduct and manage a caseload as directed by the HRBP.

Advising managers and staff on strategies and tactics that maximise performance you will also constructively challenge managers across the organisation, helping them to deliver the College’s Mission, Vision and Values. In addition the successful candidate will advise managers on UK employment law, College policies and procedures, good employment practice including Equality & Diversity and performance management and will maintain and manage their own portfolio of HR casework. 

You will play a key role in embedding robust performance management including appraisals, PDPs and lesson observations and support, facilitate Business Partner and development meetings and support the implementation and development of iTrent HR system College wide.

The Person

An ambitious HR professional with a desire to succeed and progress you will have aproven track record of successfully delivering effective, imaginative and timely HR services, successful experience of managing your own portfolio of casework and excellent working knowledge of UK employment law. You will be able to demonstrate success in advising managers on casework such as disciplinary, grievance, harassment and, sickness cases, and have the people skills required to positively influence staff and managers at all levels.

You will be comfortable drafting correspondence addressing all aspects of HR processes, experienced in the successful delivery of organisational change processes, able to work closely with trade unions on HR matters and will have used HR information systems to produce and manipulate statistical/management data and reports.In addition you will also be:

  • In possession of a relevant qualification in HR management
  • Suitably numerate and literate and able to undertake complex, detailed or creative work.
  • Able to manage time effectively and work to tight and conflicting deadlines
  • Skilled in the analysis of, and reporting on, complex information, including statistical data
  • Able to advise managers on all aspects of HR policy and practice
  • Able to support the delivery of training (workshops, induction) as required
  • Committed to developing the HR function to support the College’s goals and objectives
  • Familiar with up-to-date thinking and good HR practice
