The Laurus Trust is a growing multi-academy trust in the North West of England.

Laurus Ryecroft is a secondary free school which opened in September 2018 in Tameside for 150 year 7 students, growing year on year to full capacity of 1050 students and 300 sixth form students. 

The school replicates the outstanding provision offered by the Laurus Trust founding school Cheadle Hulme High School. The vision of the Trust is for everyone regardless of background or circumstance to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them. We are currently seeking a motivated individual to work within the IT Department.  This is a fantastic opportunity for an IT professional looking for the next step in their career or to develop on their existing skills.  

As a key member of the IT team the successful candidate will;

  • Assist the IT Director in the delivery of a safe, effective IT resource for use by students and staff across schools in the Trust.
  • Assist the IT Director in initiating, developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing programmes and systems to support high quality IT provision in the Trust.
  • Assist the IT Director in ensuring that legal and contractual obligations relating to IT resources, systems and services are met.
  • Supervise and allocate professional responsibilities and tasks to the IT Support Team in the absence of the IT Director.
  • Line manage IT technicians and apprentices.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong understanding of computer networks and operating systems, usage and equipment configuration including Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP. Windows Server 2012 and 2016, Windows 10 and Mac OSX
  • Understanding of the importance of the IT Support team in responding to user needs
  • Understanding how mobile devices are used in a work or school environment
  • Demonstrable experience of managing part of an IT network
  • Demonstrable experience of managing others.
  • Experience of working in a high pressure environment
  • Experience of delivery support, advice and training to end users
  • Minimum Maths & English GCSE (A*-C) or equivalent
  • Proven experience of working in 1st/2nd/3rd line support role
  • Proven experience of maintaining and supporting PC, server and networking equipment

Laurus Ryecroft is an oversubscribed secondary school for 11 to 18-year-old students in Tameside. In our very first Ofsted inspection in January 2023, Laurus Ryecroft was judged Outstanding in every category.

The school is run by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education offered by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), based in Stockport. CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school and has been named as one of the UK’s top-performing schools in The Sunday Times, ranking as the 15th non-denominational comprehensive school in Manchester and the North West in the annual Parent Power Survey for 2022.

Laurus Ryecroft is a non-selective, non-denominational free school. It opened in September 2018 and we moved into our new school building with access to state-of-the-art facilities in 2020.  We now have students in years 7 – 12. With the sixth form opening in September 2023.  We currently have a total of 1070 students on roll.
