Assistant Leader of English

Appleton Academy is an all through learning environment for pupils from nursery through to secondary.  Our building provides a wonderful environment for lifelong learning, in South Bradford.

Our English department is dynamic and increasingly outstanding.  The Secondary Assistant Subject Leader of English will have specific responsibility for developing a quality of education that ensures positive pupil outcomes.  We are interested in receiving applications from candidates who can continue to drive improvements and secure outstanding outcomes.   The successful applicant will be part of a team leading the development of the curriculum across the Academy, working with primary colleagues in strengthening the primary to secondary continuum of learning and maximising opportunities to consolidate learning across the secondary subject areas such as English and History.

We are looking for a creative and inspirational individual to join the Academy.   You will be an experienced practitioner who can lead a wide ranging team of professionals working with students and parents to ensure each one achieves the best possible outcomes. The successful candidate will be an individual with the ability to motivate, lead and inspire both students and staff.

· Hold qualified teacher status

· Have experience of having led, or significantly contributed to the success of a school

· Understand what highly effective teaching practice looks like
