Trinity Academy Grammar

Role: Assistant Principal / Associate Assistant Principal (Personal Development)

Start date: September 2023

Salary: AP: L14 – 18   (£61,042 - £67,351)

AAP: L8 – 12     (£52,659 - £58,105)

Trinity Academy Grammar is an ambitious and inclusive 11-16 school that, for the first time in the school’s history, will be over-subscribed from September 2023. At the start of the new academic year we will have over 1,000 students on roll; having grown this number from 650 when we first started. Although we have achieved amazing results for our students, we recognise that this is only one part of the job. We need to ensure we are giving our students every possible opportunity for personal growth. We currently have an amazing offer in terms of our PSHCE curriculum, trips, careers experiences, after school clubs and so much more. However, we know we can always do better.

Following a period of support from Trinity MAT, the school formally joined the Trust in 2018. There has since been significant improvements in outcomes, meaning the academy can now be recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country. Aspirations and ambitions are high; however, the school is determined not to rest on its laurels and is continually striving for ways to better serve the students.

The school is committed to providing outstanding personal development for its students and has invested significantly in establishing and developing an offer which is always guided by the core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, which permeate every aspect of school life. This is a fantastic opportunity for a high-performing individual with the strategic vision to further raise standards of student experience across the academy.

Trinity MAT is a high performing and successful cross-phase trust. The trust also collaborates extensively with schools across the country through the Trinity Institute of Education,  West Yorkshire Maths Hub and White Rose Maths initiatives. Through this support and our world class CPD offer you will receive professional development like no other including directly from the Principal and other key leaders within the MAT

This role will appeal to a number of prospective candidates: an assistant principal seeking progression and their next challenge, or middle leaders who are looking to take the next step in their careers. We are open to applications to the position of Associate Assistant Principal as we firmly believe that we can develop leadership qualities in individuals who share our values, have a strong work ethic and high expectations of themselves and others, and have the ability to lead staff and students in realising those expectations. Since becoming Principal of this academy we have taken on six staff in associate roles. All have gone on to secure jobs as Assistant Principal’s in this or other schools.

If you would like to visit the academy or arrange a conversation with the Principal please contact jdixon@grammar.trinitymat.org

Please note we that, because we structure our holidays differently, we have a one week Easter break so will be back in school from Tuesday 11th April.

Closing date – 17 April 2023

Interviews – TBC

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check

The Trinity MAT were first approached to work with the then Sowerby Bridge High School, when it had been graded as inadequate by Ofsted and had been ranked in the bottom 15% of all schools nationally.

After joining the MAT in 2018 the progress made has been outstanding. The academy has improved its Progress 8 outcome by 0.92 and the performance puts us comfortably in the top 1% of most improved schools in the country.

In September 2021 we will be adopting the new name of Trinity Academy Grammar to better communicate our identity, high standards and aspirations for our students. We have chosen a name which truly reflects our grammar school heritage, and to better showcase our core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, as we continue to build on this legacy through our outstanding achievements and passion to help our students reach their full potential.

It is a very exciting time to be considering joining Trinity Academy Grammar.  We can offer candidates the opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and the senior leadership team, teachers in the school and other professionals across the trust (including the Teaching School and West Yorkshire Maths Hub).

The working environment is supported by committed, hardworking and supportive colleagues who are focused on improving outcomes for our students. Comprehensive pastoral systems are embedded to ensure the behaviour of students is outstanding and they are happy and supported in their learning.

As an academy we have high expectations of staff, we expect staff to challenge our students and themselves. We set high standards and aim to display these in all that we do. Working for Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge is rewarding, we can offer a fantastic environment, excellent CPD programmes and a range of opportunities to progress. These ambitions are shared across all schools within the trust.
