Facilities

A recent upgrade of facilities saw the addition of a state-of-the-art language learning centre, an assembly and performance hall and a hospitality and horticultural trade training centre. A school refurbishment master plan is in place with ongoing improvements being made to existing facilities, with an emphasis of classroom learning areas.

The college campus is set amid beautiful grounds surrounded by Australian native trees which attract a range of birdlife. The college also boasts a full-sized football oval and spacious grassy playing field. A quality, school-wide technology network supported by a vast array of resources is another key school feature.

Curriculum

Encompassing prep through to Year 2, the early years curriculum offers a safe and supportive learning environment, where children through engagement with the Australian Curriculum are encouraged to explore, interact and with and discover foundational concepts and skills, which become the basis for further development over their years of learning.

The junior years (3 to 6) curriculum promotes identifying and accommodating of the emotional, social, cultural, spiritual, behavioural and educational needs of each child, whilst at all times recognising that the children enter school at different stages of development.

The middle years (7 to 9) provide an environment that supports and challenges the students’ learning and development within an atmosphere of respect, inclusivity, belonging and high expectations. Year 10 is a transition year, preparing students for the selection of an appropriate course of study for Years 11 and 12. Students in senior years are offered a broad range of academic and vocational subjects and pathways to enable them to access further education and/or training or employment at the end of Year 12.

School ethos

St Francis College seeks to foster in its students a desire to learn and develop the basic skills necessary to reach their full potential in an ever-changing world, within a climate which encourages wholeness, esteem, hope, care, compassion and understanding.
