The successful candidate will be instrumental in growing and developing our small yet successful Sixth Form. They will provide strategic leadership, a clear vision that aligns with the whole school and Trust vision, and a can-do attitude that means that the students are supported to achieve their very best. They will be an excellent teacher who can motivate and inspire students to learn. They will understand the need for consistent, high standards and expectations and demonstrate those in all they do. 

Purpose of Job

Start date is September (or earlier if possible)

The Assistant Principal - Head of Sixth Form will help shape the vision and strategy for the Sixth Form and have responsibility for the academic progress and wellbeing of our Year 12 and 13 students by: 

Leading the Sixth Form so that it is a dynamic centre of excellence in which each pupil thrives academically and socially. 

Manage the Sixth Form Centre to ensure it is a productive space during the school day. 

Work with the Head of School on academic interventions for Sixth Form students following KPIs and coursework results. 

Lead on the enrichment and PSHCE programmes for Sixth Form. 

Promote independence, being a self-regulated learner and social responsibility so that each pupil leaves the school confident and ambitious about his or her future. 

Continually assess our 6th form offer.

Contribute to the process of transition and recruitment into the Sixth Form. 

Work closely with the Games Master and Heads of House to ensure the sixth form feel a sense of belonging not only to the school and sixth form but to their House also.

Who we are looking for

Qualified Teacher Status

A good honours degree

Evidence of ongoing professional development

Excellent middle leader with demonstrable experience of raising standards and leading developments in a Sixth Form context

An existing AP looking for additional experience

Scientist, Mathematician or English preferable although ALL subjects considered.
