Job overview

This is not your average Senior Leadership opportunity and if you are unrelenting in your ambition for the students you serve, and want to make a significant advance in your career, please read on as we would love to hear from you.

In Ofsted’s recent visit, November 2016, they made the following observations; ‘Leadership has improved dramatically since the new Executive Principal joined the school in April 2016’.

‘The new Executive Principal has already tackled successfully poor attendance, punctuality and unacceptable behaviour’. ‘There is growing strength in the wider leadership team’. (Ofsted 2016) The successful applicant will have a passion about learning, be an excellent teacher, have great subject knowledge with both theory and practical aspects of English and strong inter-personal skills. Therefore, this is a real opportunity for someone to step up into Senior Leadership and widen their sphere of influence. We are looking for someone who will help students through the pursuit of excellence. The school is already improving at a rapid pace and this is a career defining opportunity for those who can play a pivotal role in enhancing the life chances of children and young people.

The Academy, sponsored by the Diocese of Oxford and Buckinghamshire County Council, moved into new purpose built accommodation in September 2013 and is benefitting from state of the art facilities and teaching. Situated on the new Berryfields housing development, the Academy (with Berryfields Primary School) is set to increase its roll in the next few years, providing a good education for all learners.

You will be involved in strategic whole school decisions, working as part of the Senior Leadership Team leading the English department but taking on whole school responsibilities. This job is not for the faint-hearted, but if you have tenacity, drive and ambition for the students we serve, you will find a supportive environment which will help you achieve extraordinary success for students and yourself.

Comments from a recent Ofsted were:-

  • ‘Parents, pupils and most staff applaud the strenuous efforts the Executive Principal has already made to improve the school’.
  • ‘Most notably, behaviour is significantly better’.
  • ‘The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is improving quickly’.

We can offer you and your career:-

  • A personalised CPD programme.
  • An opportunity to model outstanding practice which inspires and develops other staff.
  • An opportunity to be involved in the development and progression of the Academy and wider community.
  • Excellent support for career progression.
  • Involvement in Senior Leadership Team decisions

This role would suit an existing middle or senior leader and even someone with existing responsibility in English.
