Job overview

We are looking for an experienced leader with skills in both education and agriculture to join us as our Assistant Principal of Technical Studies and Site Lead at our agricultural site in Llysfasi. This is an exciting and unique opportunity which will be responsible for the leadership and management of the operations of Llysfasi.

Our Llysfasi site encompasses a Commercial Farm, which is run by our Farm Manager. The Farm Manager reports into our Head of Commercial Operations, however, the Assistant Principal must be able to demonstrate that they can work collaboratively with a Commercial team to develop and grow the onsite operation. We are looking for somebody who is creative, innovative and adaptable. Somebody who is open to utilising technology and is driven by meeting the ever evolving needs of the farming sector.

In this role you will be responsible for growth, diversification and commercialisation of Coleg Cambria Llysfasi in becoming the first choice for learners and employers in North East Wales and beyond. As the Assistant Principal and Site Lead you will work with employers and third party stakeholders to develop and manage an innovative, sector leading, land-based curriculum, to include Full Time, Part Time, Work-based Learning, Schools, Higher Education and Commercial provision. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing a growth development plan, identifying niche markets, curriculum and economic development opportunities.

We are looking for individuals who have first hand knowledge and experience of working in the agricultural industry, have managed an agricultural department within an educational setting and have experience in teaching and learning. Previous experience of working within external or internal inspection would be desirable. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills as you will be building relationships and working with stakeholders, employers and other organisations.

Requirements

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level in Agriculture or relevant specialist area
  • You must be a qualified teacher and hold either a PGCE, Cert Ed or C&G 7407
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence
  • Experience of collaborating with external agencies and other organisations
  • A sound and robust knowledge of current developments within Agricultural and related industries
  • Knowledge and experience of working with a commercial farm enterprise
  • Experience of managing budgets and able to set and meet deadlines
  • Well developed ICT skills, proficient in the use, creation and manipulation of spreadsheets, Google applications and MS Office
  • Experience in managing diverse teams and develop a culture of innovation
