Gilroy Santa Maria College is a co-educational Catholic College administered by Townsville Catholic Education with a current enrolment of approximately 300 students.  We are recognised throughout Northern Queensland as a school that has achieved great success in the academic, cultural, sporting and vocational fields over the past 60 years.  Our curriculum is broad, allowing for the development of students in many areas. We have a skilled Student Support Services Team available to provide counselling, career advice and learning support for students, parents and teachers.

What we are looking for

We are seeking applications for an Assistant Principal - Pastoral to commence within our diocese in 2020 for a 5 Year Contract


The purpose of the position is to exercise leadership and assist with the management of the school in accordance with Catholic Education policy and in consultation with other stakeholders as appropriate and with due reference to Catholic Education structures, processes and practices.

About Gilroy Santa Maria College (Ingham)

Gilroy Santa Maria College (Ingham) is a mixed, non-selective, independent Christian secondary school in Queensland, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school is situated in Ingham and has approximately 300 pupils on record.

Gilroy Santa Maria College opened in 1949 and is administered by Townsville Catholic Education. It is the result of the merge of two secondary schools, Gilroy College for boys and Santa Maria College for girls. Technology plays an important role at the secondary school and Year 10 pupils are given a laptop to enhance their learning – which they keep until graduating in Year 12.

Facilities 

The secondary school offers a wide range of modern learning facilities, including a multi-million dollar Trade Training Centre for pupils to learn engineering, automotive, electrical, construction and graphics. There are also science laboratories, computer labs, an industry-standard hospitality kitchen, a large library, sports courts and fields and a college chapel.

Curriculum

The secondary school offers a broad and balanced learning curriculum designed to engage with all pupils across a variety of areas. SEN pupils benefit from the support of the student support team, who also provide counselling and careers advice.
