Job overview

Assistant Principal – Personal Development

Leadership scale – L10-L15

Owing to the retirement of the current post holder, we are seeking to appoint for January 2020 (or sooner if possible/by negotiation), an Assistant Principal to further develop the Academy’s programme of student Personal Development. Due to the nature of this role, we are accepting applications from excellent teachers and school leaders and also from suitably qualified / experienced non-teachers that have the relevant senior-level industrial or career experience to lead and develop this priority area of our academy.

Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy is a school right at the heart of its community. We are a popular and over-subscribed school that has fantastic links with local primary schools. We have enjoyed significant success in recent years and have all the ingredients to become an outstanding school. This is our ambition and is where you come in. We are looking for a dynamic leader who will go that extra mile, lighting the fire of imagination in children that ‘anything is possible’ and who is with them for every step of their journey, to bring our mission statement to life; to nurture and support each student to personal excellence in all parts of their life.

This is a very exciting time in OBA’s development. Are you ready to join us on our journey to meeting our vision of being one of the country’s best schools? Do you have the talent, desire and tenacity to be successful? Do you subscribe to our moral purpose that we will do all we can, leaving no stone unturned, to ensure that all students reach their life goals regardless of starting point, situation or background? If the answer is yes, whether you are a middle leader looking for your first senior position, a more experienced senior leader seeking a fresh challenge or a suitably qualified and experienced non-teacher looking for a different experience or new challenge, our governors, staff and particularly our students would like to hear from you and welcome you to our team. The successful candidate will lead on progressing the academy to outstanding in all areas of Personal Development. You will:

• Have a proven track record of excellence and inspirational leadership with experience gained in a school (whole-school, or subject/pastoral leadership) or senior industrial leadership capacity;

• Understand the context of our academy in great detail;

• Have the vision and commitment to make a positive contribution and drive student Personal Development to outstanding;

• Have an excellent knowledge of CEIAG, along with a strong understanding of the PSHCE curriculum and character education;

• Have a passion for our academy’s responsibilities relating to equality and diversity;

• Have interpersonal skills to develop strong business & careers links;

• Be able to process and analyse data (e.g. destinations data) and action plan effectively from it;

• Have a calm, professional and approachable manner, being a role model to other colleagues.

Details and application form are available from the school website. Please address your completed application forms to Mr E. Wright, Principal and return to recruitment@ob-ac.co.uk  We can only accept applications submitted on school application forms. We welcome informal enquiries and visits. Please contact the same email address to arrange either.

Closing date for applications is 20th June 2019, with interviews on 27th (and possibly 28th) June 2019.

Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy is committed to, and actively promotes, equal opportunities for all its students and staff. The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check.
