Job overview

Job/Person Summary

We are seeking to recruit a highly effective leader to work in close partnership with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team to embed our vision of ‘Excellence for Everyone’ and develop an exceptional school. The Assistant Principal Raising Standards will also lead our provision in mathematics.

Our ambition is to deliver an exceptional standard of education. Our vision is that every student, regardless of their starting point are able to leave us and stand on equal footing with those that have attended the very best schools in the country. We want our students to have the broadest possible options in the future whether that be working toward the university course of their choice or starting out in their chosen career. The Assistant Principal Raising Standards will be integral to raising the educational bar for all our students, and closing the educational gap that exists between disadvantaged students and their more privileged counterparts.

Previous senior leadership experience is not essential for this role. We will offer you professional development through the one to one support of experienced colleagues, coaching and access to extensive network training including the NPQSL, if appropriate. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate on, and lead, network-wide projects.

The ideal candidate will

• Have a strong academic background, with a good degree in a Mathematics related discipline

• Have a proven track record of raising educational standards

• Have a commitment to social justice and improving the life chances of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds

• Combine subject expertise with a passion for teaching and unlocking the potential of all young people

• Share the Oasis Ethos and vision

About us:

At Oasis Mayfield we strive for excellence in all that we do; our mission is focused around entitling our students, staff and community to an exceptional education. In order to achieve this we have four simple priorities.

• Excellent teaching

• Excellent outcomes

• Excellent student entitlement

• Excellent staff / parent / community entitlement

We place a high value on the personal development and professional learning for our staff and all teaching staff have reduced contact time accordingly.  By being part of Oasis Community Learning, which has 52 academies nationally, you will have the privilege of working alongside experienced leaders and will benefit from a strong support network and partnership within the South Coast and South West regions.  You will have many opportunities to develop and share best practice to drive continual improvement, including through regional improvement networks and access to a competitive CPD programme nationally.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment and to undergo appropriate checks, including enhanced DBS checks and a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours which flow from the Oasis Community Learning ethos.
