Assistant Principal (Standards and Performance)

L11 – 15

Required for September 2018 or earlier by agreement

A unique opportunity to join an outstanding leadership team and oversee all aspects of a Year Group’s performance whilst contributing to the overall effectiveness of the academy.

We are looking for an inspirational individual to join the Senior Leadership Team in our forward thinking, innovative and dynamic academy to ensure our Outstanding, World Class provision is not only retained but is also built upon.

Judged Outstanding for the first time in 2009 and re-designated as Outstanding in every Ofsted category in May 2013 we have a track record of excellence both in terms of student outcomes and professional development.  Working within the nationally renowned GORSE Academies Trust led by Sir John Townsley we were awarded Teaching School Status in March 2012 and in September 2015 our Outstanding School Centred Initial Teacher Training Centre opened, supporting the development of over 120 trainee teachers.  On 1 December 2016 The Morley Academy was officially recognised as a World Class School, one of only a handful in the country.

Our examination results are extremely impressive; the 2017 GCSE results placed The Morley Academy as the top performing school in Leeds for Grade 4 English & Mathematics and the validated whole cohort Progress 8 score is +0.64. The GORSE Academies Trust is determined to ensure that all students thrive within an academic curriculum with plentiful enrichment opportunities, no matter what their background is, and The Morley Academy’s validated Progress 8 score of +0.77 for disadvantaged students is a powerful reflection of our collective passion for supporting our students in acquiring the ‘gift of choice’.

The Morley Academy enjoys enormous respect across the whole educational community and is at the forefront of national developments around teaching, assessment and leadership. The academy has led the creation of a new Senior Leadership Team structure within The GORSE Academies Trust; a structure which has been proven to be highly effective and rewarding. The structure has at it’s heart the belief that pastoral work and progress are fully entwined; as a consequence the model sees each Assistant Principal in charge of all aspects of a year group’s performance whilst contributing wholeheartedly to the overall effectiveness of the academy.

The successful applicant will enjoy regular, personalised CPD opportunities within a culture which offers collaborative peer support and opportunities to review the academy's practice in a manner which is conducive to supporting colleagues in continuing to provide the very highest standards of education, care and guidance, so that all students are afforded the gift of a rigourous, academic education. We would expect successful candidates to rise further within our Trust, including to positions of whole academy leadership.

If you are excited about the prospect of this opportunity, we would be delighted to hear from you. An application pack which provides further details of the role is available to download directly from our website at www.tgat.org.uk/jobs, or by email to recruitment@morley.leeds.sch.uk.  Please note if you submit an electronic application we will not require a hard copy.  CVs are not accepted.

Recently accredited as a World Class School The Morley Academy is one of only 48 schools in the country to have the outcomes, attitudes and skills-sets of the student body recognised in this way.  We are extremely proud of this award and feel it captures our vision and ethos in a poignant manner.

We are a humble organisation that does not rest on its laurels.  We are always keen to listen and learn and we are eager to work in partnership with students and parents, carers and governors to continue to ensure our provision is the best it can possibly be.  As the founding member of the nationally renowned GORSE Academies Trust we benefit from expert partnership networks which provide a rich climate for discussion, debate, moderation and the sharing of resources.  Furthermore through the academy’s SCITT we benefit from working alongside and supporting the development of professionals new to teaching; we recognise the advantages that this offers and relish the opportunity to work collaboratively.

We are thrilled you are considering applying for a role with us; we can assure you if you do you will not be disappointed!
