Location: Addington Valley Academy, Field Way, New Addington, Croydon 

Addington Valley Academy is special Free School in Croydon for children and young people with autism and learning difficulties. The school opened in 2020 and provides 150 places for children and young people aged 2-19 who have autism and social communication, cognitive, sensory and social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

The new purpose designed school is equipped to meet the needs of students and includes sensory gardens, indoor sensory rooms, soft-play area, and a large cookery room along with other facilities to encourage students to learn skills to live independently. Students access specialist support enabling them to learn and achieve in a nurturing and aspirational environment.

The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Deputy Principals, students and families, the wider SLT and the academy teams in sustaining a journey of improvement, development and innovation to benefit our students. The Assistant Principal will be fully engaged with the SLT in planning the curriculum and delivery to enhance the offer to our students and to take full advantage of the proposed new buildings, which will include technical/vocational facilities.

Specific responsibility will include supporting the Deputy Principals in professional duties: To assist in mutually agreed areas of school leadership and management, including Teaching and Learning, Attainment, Performance Management of Teaching staff and to fully deputise for the Deputy Principal in their absence.
