Assistant Principal - Teaching and Learning/Literacy

Ivybridge Community CollegeDevon

This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly created Westcountry Schools Trust, currently employing approximately 1500 staff and growing.  We are a dynamic organisation with our students and staff at our heart.  Built on an extensive track record of excellence, the Trust combines a range of secondary colleges, primary schools and business units based in a variety of sites across Devon and Cornwall.  We are also a stone’s throw from some of the best beaches and countryside in the country.

You would be joining an ambitious Senior Leadership Team.  This post demonstrates our commitment to Quality First Teaching being at the heart of everything we do, and this is underpinned by a relentless focus on literacy, as we know this is the essential driver for the success and life chances of our students.

Our staff are committed and reflective practitioners, who have embraced our Teach Like a Champion inspired Learning Strategy.  The successful candidate would be joining a College that invests in the continued professional development of teachers and proactively evaluates current educational research to ensure our students experience a full and rich curriculum.

Literacy has always been prioritised by the College, but following a recent Trust endorsed review, we are now seeking to ‘do less and do it better’.  The successful candidate would evaluate the impact of current practice and initiatives across all aspects of the College and ensure a clear, focused strategy moving forwards.

We are looking to appoint a person with energy, enthusiasm, adaptability and a keen commitment to the development of all areas relating Teaching and Learning/Literacy.

Ivybridge Community College is a warm, friendly College with students who are a pleasure to teach.  The College provides an excellent comprehensive education with a dedicated team of staff.
