Job overview

LSE values diversity and strives to promote equality at all levels.
We particularly welcome applications by women and ethnic minorities.

As part of its continuing development building on its reputation for teaching and research on the economic, institutional and organisational aspects of accounting and financial management, the Department of Accounting at LSE invites applications from outstanding candidates for up to two posts of Assistant Professor in Accounting. For further information on the Department of Accounting, please visit http://www.lse.ac.uk/collections/accounting.

Those specialising in any area of accounting are encouraged to apply. However, we seek to appoint to one of these two posts an Assistant Professor with expertise in qualitative accounting research and a focus on the organisational and institutional analysis of accounting to contribute to one of the core strengths of the Department. An ability to contribute more broadly to the activities of the Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation (CARR) for this post also would be particularly welcome.

You will be expected to undertake research in accounting, and to teach accounting at undergraduate and graduate level. We welcome applications from candidates with a completed or nearly-completed PhD in Accounting or related area, but also from early-stage faculty with an emerging record in accounting research.

Candidates with a completed or nearly-completed PhD will be able to demonstrate a developing record of research with potential for leading publications in accounting. Early-stage faculty will be able to demonstrate a record of prior publications as well as a trajectory of research with potential for further leading publications in accounting.

You will also have skills in the teaching of accounting.

The other criteria that will be used when shortlisting for this post can be found on the person specification, which is attached to this vacancy on the LSE’s online recruitment system.

The appointment is expected to commence on 1 September 2017.

Salary is competitive with peer institutions worldwide. UK Visas and Immigration requires that we inform applicants that the minimum salary for Assistant Professors at LSE is determined by step 39.5 in the Salary Band corresponding to £52,427 which we supplement as needed to take market considerations into account. In addition to a competitive salary, the benefits that come with this job include an occupational pension scheme, a research incentive scheme with personal reward options, generous research leave (sabbatical) entitlement, a collegial faculty environment and excellent support, training and development opportunities.
