It is the school of choice for parents in the area with a very proud history stretching back over 238 years and we are typically fully subscribed with 924 students on roll. As well as outstanding outcomes in D&T and STEM subjects Balshaw’s also has pride in its sporting and arts achievements boasting a number of successful and famous alumni. The school has long standing links with the Diocese and has a strong Christian ethos.

The finances of the school are very well-managed; careful stewardship and forward planning mean that Balshaw’s has continued to set budgets with an in-year surplus. In addition to the 924 students on role, the school has 119 staff.

The role of Assistant School Business Manager is fundamental to ensuring that the operations at Balshaw’s run smoothly, allowing the School Business Manager to focus more closely upon long term strategic development of the school.

The School Business Manager works closely with the Head’s PA/HR Manager and the new Assistant School Business Manager will work as part of this small team as well as the larger whole school admin team. They will need to be flexible as the role will be varied and demanding and the need for accurate work is essential.

The whole school admin team operates across the main office, cover management, the Pastoral Hub, Attendance along with Data and Examinations. The role also has involvement in the management of the premises and the lettings of the school’s facilities.

The Assistant School Business Manager will be expected to cover all these roles as required and be flexible as to the area of the school they are asked to work in. A good team player is vital to work alongside the existing professional, hard-working admin team.
